We all admire someone or something but do you want to make that someone or something to a god?
Let us first see its meaning, what does the dictionary says about this wordidolˈī-dəlnoun
- a greatly loved or admired person
- a picture or object that is worshiped as a god
1 a representation or symbol of an object of worship; broadly : a false god
3 a form or appearance visible but without substance idol — P. B. Shelley>
5 : a false conception : fallacy
– source Merriam-Webster Dictionary
In its meaning itself states that it is fallacy or false or untrue in nature.
But what about the Bible meaning of this word
KJV Ezekiel 16:36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
This so called idols are abominations to the Almighty God. That is why they add a gesture of head bowing and both hands raising up and down while they say it. A gesture of worshipping.
It is a different way of saying “Hey, your an abomination to God! Hooray!” or “Hey, your a misconception, an impostor or a pretender, and obsolete! Yahoo!
We misunderstood, misconceptionalize, and misinterpret the words we use. I know I am not an expert in English language, I am not also a Linguist, but I know common sense.
Are we now going to call someone and something an idol or lodi as what they call it. We could actually use “hero”, “icon”, and your a “huge fan”. But never an idol. You might say that hero and icon are synonyms of idol? But can you find those it in the Bible if it is an abomination to God? God said
KJV Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I comand you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
We need to follow what God have commanded and obey Him rather than man. We need to be wiser than the devil. Because he devices things that even common sense are being disregarded.
Now I believed that their are real heroes, that we can admire. Like the “Heroes of Marawi“. And I want to say “thank you them”, just like what some army general said in a TV program called “#GetItStraightwithDanieRazon” To thank them if you see them, if you have a chance. Again
THANK YOU! HEROES OF MARAWI!
